About

Jerry Edelstein is a leading experimental astrophysicist whose career has been defined by pioneering the robotic fiber-positioning technology that powers the largest dark energy surveys ever conducted. As a key architect of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), Edelstein’s primary contributions lie in the design and implementation of the instrument’s revolutionary focal plane system.
