About

Dominic Doyle is a leading figure in high-energy astrophysics instrumentation, whose work centers on the precision alignment and integration of advanced X-ray optics. His primary research area involves the development of Silicon Pore Optics (SPO) for next-generation space telescopes, most notably for the European Space Agency’s ATHENA (Advanced Telescope for High-ENergy Astrophysics) mission. Doyle’s major contribution is the pioneering of a facility and process—developed in collaboration with Media Lario—for the alignment, assembly, and integration of hundreds of SPO mirror modules onto ATHENA’s Mirror Assembly Module.
