Abstract

There are growing needs for mobile services such as elderly people in large scale facilities, mainly in developed countries such as Japan. In this paper, we discuss automatic braking technologies installed in the robotic electric wheelchair “WHILL NEXT” which was developed assuming use in a large indoor space such as an airport. In particular, the automatic stop function with two-step approach technology that allows access to the target object are developed. As a result of evaluating the developed technologies at the actual airport site, we confirmed that developed technology function fully as elemental technology.
