Abstract
We developed a dynamic model of a spider monkey robot that was constructed to imitate the brachiating behavior of real spider monkeys. The equations of motion were derived using a Lagrangian method. The dynamic behaviors of the model were investigated by varying the model parameters. The optimal operating conditions found from the simulation can serve as a guide to the initiation of dynamic behavior in the empirical robot.
