Overview
Custom fingertip sensor designed exclusively for iCub, a child-sized humanoid robot by IIT. Features compact 4×4 mm sensing points with 3-axis touch measurement (shear and normal forces), 0.1 gf resolution, soft compliant design, 500 Hz sampling, and temperature/magnetic compensation.
Key features
- ▸Custom fingertip design for iCub child-sized humanoid robot by IIT
- ▸Compact sensing points: 4×4 mm area, 4 mm thin sensors
- ▸Distributed 3-axis sensing: measures shear forces (X, Y) and normal force (Z)
- ▸Ultra-sensitive: 0.1 gram-force resolution per sensing point
- ▸Soft & robust: handles up to 1500 gf normal force, overloadable to 3000 gf
- ▸Fast sampling at 500 Hz with minimal wiring via CAN daisy-chain
- ▸Exchangeable sleeve design for durability and cost-effectiveness
- ▸Calibrated to Newton with standard or individual calibration options
- ▸Temperature and magnetic field compensation via patented technology
- ▸Easy integration: glue-on (uSPa) or screw-on (uSPr) designs for grippers
