About

Zhixing Zhang is a leading researcher in the field of advanced soft materials, specializing in the design of hydrogels, organogels, and flexible sensors for biomimetic and intelligent systems. Their major contributions center on overcoming the traditional trade-off between strength and toughness in hydrogels, most notably through the development of a strain-induced microphase separation strategy that produced a strong and ultra-tough supramolecular hydrogel (131 citations). Zhang has also pioneered multi-functional materials that integrate self-healing, adhesive, and strain-sensitive properties, as demonstrated in their tetradic double-network hydrogel work (65 citations). Their impact extends to structural engineering of graphite networks for ultra-sensitive strain sensors (33 citations) and the creation of water-resistant conductive organogels that mimic artificial neuro-sensory muscular systems (28 citations). More recently, Zhang has advanced photothermal-driven hydrogel actuators and water-gliding microrobots with integrated flexible sensors, pushing the boundaries of soft robotics and human-machine interfaces. With a growing body of highly cited work, Zhang is recognized for enabling next-generation flexible electronics and intelligent soft systems.
