About
Zhiwen Pan is at the forefront of next-generation wireless research, specializing in the convergence of artificial intelligence and 6G communication networks. His most influential work, the comprehensive survey “Overview of AI and Communication for 6G Network” (2025), has already garnered 123 citations, establishing itself as a key reference in the field. In this work, Pan systematically explores how embedding AI across network layers can enable transformative capabilities—from intelligent resource allocation to autonomous network management—laying the groundwork for a fully intelligent, self-optimizing 6G ecosystem. He further pushes the boundaries of integrated systems with his work on STAR-RIS-Aided Integrated Sensing, Computing, and Communication for the Internet of Robotic Things (2024), proposing a novel framework that simultaneously transmits and reflects signals to support robotic systems with enhanced sensing and computation offloading. By addressing the fundamental challenges of AI–communication integration and pioneering architectures for intelligent robotic networks, Pan is shaping the future of ultra-reliable, low-latency, and context-aware 6G services.
