About

Zheng Ao is a rising leader in the development of advanced multifunctional hydrogels, with a focus on integrating self-propulsion, energy harvesting, and flexible sensing. His major contributions include the creation of a high-performance MXene-chitosan composite hydrogel that serves as both a self-propelled Marangoni swimmer and a water-enabled electricity generator—a breakthrough that addresses the challenge of combining motion and power generation in a single material. This work has already garnered 41 citations since its 2024 publication. Additionally, Ao has engineered a self-adhesive, self-healing, and antibacterial hydrogel based on PVA/MXene-Ag/sucrose for strain sensors, achieving fast response, high sensitivity, and ultra-durability (22 citations). His research uniquely bridges materials chemistry and device engineering, offering practical solutions for soft robotics, healthcare monitoring, and electronic skins. With these innovative contributions, Zheng Ao is establishing himself as a key figure in the next generation of smart, responsive materials.
