About
Yuji Nishida is a pioneering cardiothoracic surgeon whose work centers on advancing minimally invasive and robotic-assisted cardiac surgery. His most significant contribution lies in the development and clinical validation of robot-assisted minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting (MIDCAB), also known as "ThoraCAB." In his highly cited 2013 study, Nishida demonstrated the safety and feasibility of this technique in a cohort of 35 patients, performing beating-heart bypass surgery through a small thoracotomy with robotic assistance.
