Yuan-Ting Zhang is a pioneering figure at the intersection of robotics, automation, and healthcare technology. His research spans two transformative domains: the optimization and control of redundant robotic manipulators, and the vision of Healthcare 4.0. In robotics, Zhang made foundational contributions by formulating complex motion planning and torque optimization problems—including obstacle avoidance and physical constraints—as unified quadratic programming (QP) frameworks solved by recurrent neural networks. His seminal 2004 paper on this approach has garnered over 306 citations, while his work on dual neural networks for obstacle avoidance has accumulated 200 citations.
