About
Yiqing Luan is a robotics engineer whose work focuses on automating the inspection of electrical substations, a critical task for maintaining grid reliability. Her research spans navigation, motion control, and manipulator kinematics for specialized inspection robots. Luan’s most impactful contribution is the design of a laser navigation system for substation inspection robots (2013, 17 citations), which replaced less flexible magnetic guide and RFID parking systems with a prototype based on the NAV200 sensor. This work directly addressed a key limitation in existing inspection robots.
