About

Yanlin Song is a multidisciplinary researcher whose work spans droplet manipulation, flexible electronics, perovskite optoelectronics, and advanced manufacturing. Perhaps best known for pioneering programmable droplet control systems, Song's 2020 paper on magnetic-actuated robotic droplet manipulation has garnered over 300 citations, establishing a new paradigm for dynamic, structure-free liquid operations with transformative implications for medical diagnostics and drug delivery. Building on this foundation, Song extended the concept with reconfigurable magnetic liquid metal robots in 2022, overcoming the rigidity limitations of conventional manipulation strategies and accumulating over 130 citations. Beyond droplet science, Song has made significant contributions to wearable and flexible electronics, including an innovative dyeing-based electronic textile platform for multimodal physical motion monitoring. More recently, Song has explored multifunctional perovskite photodetectors — work that bridges crystal structure engineering and micro/nanoscale morphology control for applications in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, earning over 100 citations since 2023. Additional contributions to active matrix sensory systems, human-computer interaction devices, and multi-material additive manufacturing underscore Song's remarkable breadth. Collectively, these achievements reflect a researcher consistently pushing the boundaries of smart materials and functional devices.
