About
Xiangji Wang is a robotics researcher focused on advancing locomotion and autonomy for legged and humanoid systems. His work bridges perception, control, and bio-inspired design to enable more agile and adaptive robots. Wang’s most notable contribution is the development of LSF-planner, a visual local planner that leverages ground structure and feature information to guide legged robots through complex terrains with improved stability and efficiency. This work, already garnering citations shortly after its 2025 publication, addresses a critical challenge in field robotics. He also introduced Walk2Run, a unified control framework inspired by biological rhythms that seamlessly transitions humanoid robots between walking and running gaits. This bio-rhythm approach offers a novel solution to the longstanding problem of gait switching, enhancing the fluidity and energy efficiency of bipedal locomotion. With his early-career papers already attracting attention, Wang is establishing himself as a rising voice in legged robotics, contributing practical algorithms that bring robots closer to real-world deployment in search-and-rescue, exploration, and service applications.
