About

Soichi Wakatsuki is a leading figure in structural biology and synchrotron instrumentation, whose work has revolutionized high-throughput macromolecular crystallography. His core research focuses on developing automated systems to overcome bottlenecks in protein structure determination, from crystallization to data collection. Wakatsuki spearheaded the creation of the PXS (Protein Crystallization System), an automated large-scale platform for protein crystallization, and the PAM (PF Automated Mounting) sample-exchange robots, which dramatically accelerated data collection at synchrotron beamlines.
