So Hee Min is a pioneering researcher in biomimetic robotics, with a focus on developing intelligent, animal-inspired robots capable of natural interaction with humans and their environment. Her work centers on two key areas: autonomous navigation for aquatic robots and sensory perception for interactive entertainment robots. In her foundational 2007 paper, "Obstacle Recognition and Collision Avoidance of a Fish Robot Based on Fuzzy Neural Networks," Min introduced a novel control system that enables fish-like robots to autonomously detect and avoid obstacles, laying critical groundwork for autonomous underwater vehicles. Her most impactful contribution, however, comes from her 2008 study on sound localization for dolphin robots.
