Dr. Shih-An Liu is a pioneering head and neck surgeon whose work has redefined the role of robotic surgery in treating complex aerodigestive tract cancers. His research centers on transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and robot-assisted microvascular reconstruction, with a focus on improving both oncologic outcomes and functional preservation. Dr. Liu’s landmark 2015 study on TORS for early hypopharyngeal cancer (41 citations) was among the first to demonstrate the feasibility of organ-preserving robotic resection in this challenging anatomical site.
