About
Wen-Jiun Lin is a leading head and neck surgeon whose research centers on advancing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for the treatment of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancers. His major contributions lie in expanding the application of TORS to challenging anatomical sites, particularly the anterior commissure of the glottis—a region historically associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates. Lin’s pioneering work, including his most cited paper (24 citations) on TORS for early glottic carcinoma involving the anterior commissure, demonstrated that robotic surgery can achieve en-bloc tumor resection with a panoramic view, offering a viable alternative to traditional open approaches. He has also provided crucial evidence on the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy before TORS and the potential to spare patients from adjuvant radiotherapy, as shown in his 2021 prospective study (12 citations).
