Rong-San Jiang is a pioneering head and neck surgeon whose research has reshaped the application of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for difficult-to-treat laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers. His work focuses on expanding the boundaries of minimally invasive organ-preserving techniques, particularly for early-stage tumors in anatomically challenging sites. In a landmark 2015 study (41 citations), Jiang demonstrated the feasibility and oncologic safety of TORS for early T-classification hypopharyngeal cancer, offering a new alternative to traditional open surgery or chemoradiation.
