I-Chen Chen is a pioneering surgeon whose work centers on the intersection of robotic surgery and microvascular reconstruction for head and neck cancers, particularly oropharyngeal malignancies. Chen’s major contributions lie in demonstrating the feasibility and safety of robot-assisted free flap reconstruction, a technically demanding procedure that combines transoral robotic surgery (TORS) with free tissue transfer.
