About
Shadhvi S. Bhairosingh is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of surgical oncology and molecular imaging, with a primary focus on intraoperative fluorescence-guided surgery for prostate cancer. Her most impactful work centers on the clinical translation of targeted optical imaging agents, particularly OTL78, a novel fluorescent tracer designed to bind prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). As first author of the landmark phase 2a feasibility trial published in 2023, she demonstrated that OTL78 enables real-time, high-contrast visualization of PSMA-positive prostate cancer lesions during surgery, achieving 54 citations in a short period. This study established a critical proof-of-concept for using targeted fluorescence to improve surgical precision and reduce positive margin rates. Bhairosingh’s contributions bridge preclinical development and first-in-human application, directly impacting how surgeons identify malignant tissue intraoperatively. Her work has been recognized for its potential to transform standard-of-care prostate cancer surgery, and she continues to advance the field by refining imaging protocols and expanding applications to other solid tumors.
