Randall S. Johnson is a leading figure in satellite aerosol remote sensing and data assimilation, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of aerosol transport and distribution in the Earth’s atmosphere. His research focuses on resolving critical uncertainties in satellite-derived aerosol optical depth (AOD), particularly over challenging surfaces like the Southern Oceans.
