About
Qisong Shi is a leading researcher in the field of electroactive polymers and soft actuation technologies. His primary research focuses on the development of high-performance dielectric elastomer composites and electroactive polymer gels for next-generation soft robotics and flexible electronics. Shi’s major contributions include pioneering work on enhancing the dielectric, energy storage, and actuation properties of polymer composites through innovative thermal treatment strategies. His highly cited 2021 review on electroactive dielectric polymer gels (43 citations) has become a foundational reference for researchers exploring new-generation soft actuators. In his 2022 study on TPU/BaTiO₃ composites (22 citations), Shi demonstrated that thermal treatment significantly improves interfacial compatibility between polymer matrices and ceramic fillers, leading to enhanced interface polarization and superior actuated performance. This work provides a scalable, practical approach to overcoming longstanding challenges in dielectric elastomer performance. With a growing citation impact and a clear trajectory of innovation, Qisong Shi is establishing himself as an influential voice in the development of smart materials for soft robotics and energy storage applications.
