About

Qingye Liu is a materials scientist whose research sits at the intersection of smart hydrogels, biopolymer engineering, and soft actuator technology. Drawing inspiration from biological systems, Liu has made significant contributions to the design and fabrication of stimuli-responsive hydrogel materials derived from naturally occurring polysaccharides such as chitosan and carboxymethylcellulose. His landmark 2018 work on electroresponsive polyelectrolyte complex hydrogels — now cited 42 times — demonstrated how freeze–thawing combined with sequential chemical and physical cross-linking could yield supertough, responsive materials with remarkable mechanical properties.
