Nikhil Jha is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of robotics, cloud computing, and hardware acceleration, whose work is fundamentally reshaping how robots access and leverage computational power. His primary research areas include fog and cloud robotics, edge computing, and domain-specific architectures for machine learning. Jha's most significant contribution is the development of the FogROS platform, particularly FogROS2 (2023, 38 citations), which provides an adaptive framework enabling resource-constrained robots to offload heavy computational workloads to cloud providers like AWS and GCP using the Robot Operating System 2.
