Mohammed Khaleduzzaman is a molecular biologist whose research has significantly advanced our understanding of the plakin family of cytoskeletal linker proteins. His most impactful work centers on the discovery and characterization of epiplakin, a novel and unusually large member of this protein family. In his landmark 2001 study, which has garnered over 60 citations, Khaleduzzaman identified epiplakin as a 450-kDa human epidermal autoantigen, later revealing through molecular cloning that it is a massive 552-kDa protein comprising 5,065 amino acids.
