About

Dr. Meifang Zhu is a leading innovator at the intersection of smart textiles, wearable electronics, and biomedical materials, with a focus on developing intelligent systems that mimic and enhance human physiological functions. Her most impactful work includes the creation of a multifunctional fiber, fabricated via wet spinning and UV photopolymerization, which simultaneously detects human motion and temperature—a foundational contribution cited 55 times. Dr. Zhu’s research is distinguished by its bio-inspired approach, as exemplified by her highly cited 2024 study on a skin-inspired, self-adaptive system for dynamic wound healing. This work introduces a thermoregulating electronic skin that autonomously responds to environmental changes, offering a breakthrough in situational awareness for patients with skin damage. More recently, she has pioneered a machine learning-enabled, real-time temperature response system that leverages polymer-filler interactions to control conductive network assembly, demonstrating her commitment to integrating artificial intelligence with material design. With a growing citation record and a clear trajectory toward translational impact, Dr. Zhu is establishing herself as a key figure in the development of adaptive, responsive materials for healthcare and human-machine interfaces.
