M. Beroiz is a key figure in multi-messenger astronomy, specializing in the optical follow-up of gravitational-wave events and the development of machine-learning techniques for transient detection. As a leading member of the Transient Optical Robotic Observatory of the South (TOROS) Collaboration, Beroiz made a landmark contribution to the first-ever detection of an electromagnetic counterpart to a gravitational-wave source, GW170817.
