Jhabvala is a pioneering figure in infrared detector technology and space-based Earth observation, whose career at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center has fundamentally advanced the use of strained-layer superlattice (SLS) and quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) systems.
