Linzhi Sun is a robotics engineer and researcher whose work has focused primarily on the design, development, and optimization of micro-robots for small-pipe inspection applications. Over the course of the late 1990s and 2000s, Sun made significant contributions to the field of miniaturized robotic systems, exploring multiple actuation technologies — including electromagnetic actuators and piezoelectric (PZT) devices — to enable locomotion within pipes as narrow as 10–20 millimeters in diameter. His early foundational work, "Study on micro-robot in small pipe" (1998), laid the conceptual groundwork for subsequent designs, while his 2002 papers on electromagnetic and PZT-actuated robots drew the most attention from the research community, accumulating 24 and 17 citations respectively.
