About
Keiichiro Kume is a pioneering roboticist and gastroenterologist whose work sits at the intersection of flexible endoscopy and surgical robotics. His primary research focus is the development of master-slave robotic systems for gastrointestinal endoscopy, aiming to enhance precision and reduce the technical barriers to complex procedures like endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Kume’s most significant contribution is the creation of the Endoscopic Operation Robot (EOR) and its successors, including the Endoscopic Therapeutic Robot System (ETRS), which for the first time enabled complete remote control of both the endoscope and therapeutic instruments.
