About
Junxia Lu is a materials scientist whose research focuses on the development of advanced, multifunctional hydrogels for flexible electronics and wearable sensor applications. Her most notable contribution is the design of a fishing net-inspired polyvinyl alcohol-chitosan-carbon nanotube (PVA-chitosan-CNT) hydrogel, which achieves exceptional stretchability, sensitivity, and environmental stability. This work, published in 2024 and already garnering 9 citations, addresses a critical challenge in textile-based strain sensors: balancing mechanical robustness with reliable electrical performance under real-world conditions. By mimicking the hierarchical structure of fishing nets, Lu’s hydrogel enables highly durable, skin-conformable sensors that maintain conductivity even after repeated deformation. Her research bridges polymer chemistry and bioinspired engineering, offering a scalable pathway for next-generation smart textiles, health monitoring patches, and human-machine interfaces. With her innovative approach to integrating natural structural principles into synthetic materials, Lu is establishing herself as an emerging leader in the field of flexible and stretchable electronics.
