About

Joongho Yun is a rising leader in the field of medical robotics, specializing in magnetic navigation systems (MNS) for minimally invasive procedures. His research focuses on the design, optimization, and control of electromagnetic systems that wirelessly manipulate capsule endoscopes and other medical microrobots within the human body. Yun’s major contributions include the development of C-Mag, a novel compact magnetic navigation system that overcomes the prohibitive size, weight, and cost of conventional MNS, making wireless capsule manipulation more clinically accessible. He has also pioneered systematic optimization methodologies for gradient and uniform saddle coil arrangements, addressing critical challenges such as limited operating time and large inductance to improve system efficiency and field uniformity. With over 13 citations across his most-cited works from 2022–2023, Yun’s research is gaining traction for its practical engineering solutions to real-world medical constraints. His work represents a significant step toward affordable, high-performance robotic platforms for gastrointestinal diagnosis and targeted therapy.
