About

Jie Ru is a materials scientist and engineer whose research focuses on bioinspired soft actuators, nanocomposite electrodes, and ionic polymer–metal composites (IPMCs) for next-generation soft robotics. In their most cited work, "Soybean Root-Inspired SWCNT/Ag@Au Composite Electrode for Ionic Polymer–Metal Composite Actuators" (2024, 2 citations), Ru introduced a novel electrode architecture modeled after the hierarchical structure of soybean roots, combining single-walled carbon nanotubes with silver-gold nanoparticles.
