About
Dr. Jian-Hua Hong is a leading urologic oncologist whose research focuses on optimizing surgical and prognostic strategies for prostate cancer and upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). A key contributor to the Taiwan UTUC Collaboration Group, Dr. Hong has spearheaded landmark multicenter studies comparing hand-assisted, laparoscopic, and robotic nephroureterectomy, demonstrating that minimally invasive approaches can achieve oncological outcomes comparable to open surgery even in locally advanced T3T4 disease—work that has garnered over 24 citations. In prostate cancer, Dr. Hong’s pioneering investigations into the tumor immune microenvironment have revealed that lower postoperative natural killer cell activity is significantly associated with positive surgical margins, and that circulating extracellular vesicles regulate NK cell function via the NKG2A pathway. These insights have opened new avenues for immunotherapy in prostate cancer.
