J. Aceituno is an observational astrophysicist whose work has significantly advanced our understanding of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and night-sky quality monitoring. Their most impactful contribution came from the 1999 study of GRB 990123, which provided critical broad-band ultraviolet-to-near-infrared observations of the afterglow starting just 8.5 hours post-burst.
