About
Hyeseon Jo is a pioneering researcher in the field of soft bio-inspired electronics and neuromorphic materials, with a focus on developing intelligent, stretchable systems that mimic natural biological processes. Her major contributions lie in creating artificial cognitive skins and elastomeric nanocomposite electrodes that replicate the distributed sensing and processing capabilities of cephalopod skin—such as that of squid and octopus. In her highly cited 2022 work (60 citations), Jo introduced artificial neuromorphic cognitive skins based on biaxially stretchable elastomeric synaptic transistors, enabling soft, deformable platforms for sensing, recognition, and camouflaging without centralized processing. More recently, in 2024, she advanced the design of hybrid Ag–Au nanostructure-based fully elastomeric nanocomposite electrodes, pushing the boundaries of soft integrated electronics for wearable and implantable devices. Her work is notable for bridging neuroscience, materials science, and soft robotics, offering transformative pathways toward autonomous, skin-like electronics. With growing citation impact, Jo’s research is shaping the future of distributed neuromorphic systems and stretchable biointerfaces.
