About
Huimin Gu is a leading voice in hospitality technology and service innovation, with a research focus on human-robot interaction, service automation, and organizational resilience. Her most influential work examines how robot anthropomorphism and perceived intelligence shape hotel guests’ continuance usage intention—a study that has garnered 50 citations and is reshaping how the industry designs robotic service agents. Gu further advanced the field by extending the Service Robot Acceptance Model (sRAM) to incorporate trust and rapport as critical mediators in hotel service encounters, demonstrating that social-emotional antecedents are as vital as functional ones for robot adoption. Her work has been cited over 100 times, reflecting its impact on both academic theory and practical service design. Beyond robotics, Gu contributed vital insights during the COVID-19 pandemic, using a multiple-case study of four major Chinese hotel groups—Jinling, Jinjiang, New Century, and Huazhu—to analyze recovery strategies and organizational resilience. This research, published in 2023, offers a roadmap for crisis management in hospitality. Gu’s scholarship bridges cutting-edge technology and real-world service challenges, making her a key figure for students and researchers exploring the future of automated hospitality.
