Harald Teufel is a pioneering figure in motion simulation technology, whose work has fundamentally reshaped how researchers study human spatial perception and multisensory integration. His primary research areas span cable-robot-based motion platforms, anthropomorphic robotic simulators, and the neural mechanisms underlying path integration—the process by which humans track their position using self-motion cues. Teufel’s most impactful contribution is the CableRobot simulator, a large-scale motion platform introduced in his 2016 paper (112 citations), developed collaboratively between the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and Fraunhofer IPA.
