About
Gustavo Teixeira is a researcher at the intersection of robotics, mixed reality, and educational technology. His work centers on making advanced manufacturing and robotics more accessible, both through digital tools and hands-on learning. A key contribution is the "Mirrorlabs" framework (2020, 14 citations), an open-source ICT solution that creates accessible Digital Twins of robotic production environments. By combining Unity-based Mixed Reality applications with ROS, Teixeira enables users to visualize recorded production data and interact with robot data using state-of-the-art Augmented Reality displays, democratizing access to complex industrial simulations. Complementing this technical work, Teixeira has also focused on social and environmental impact. Through the EDUCABOT3D project, he pioneered the insertion of educational robotics in high schools to promote environmental awareness about e-waste (2018, 13 citations). This initiative teaches students to reuse electronic waste components, fostering both technical skills and ecological responsibility. By bridging cutting-edge mixed reality for industry with sustainable, hands-on robotics education, Teixeira’s work demonstrates a commitment to making technology both powerful and purposeful.
