About

Dr. Guanpeng Han is a pioneering urologic surgeon and researcher whose work is redefining the boundaries of minimally invasive surgery. His primary research areas focus on advanced robotic and laparoscopic techniques for complex ureteral reconstruction and prostate cancer surgery. Dr. Han is a leading figure in the clinical validation of the KangDuo Surgical Robot-01 (KD-SR-01) system, a new Chinese-made robotic platform. His landmark prospective studies, including a head-to-head comparison with the da Vinci Si system (38 citations), have demonstrated the KD-SR-01’s feasibility and safety for radical prostatectomy and pyeloplasty, establishing him as a key driver of domestic surgical innovation. Beyond robotics, Dr. Han has made significant contributions to ureteral reconstruction, notably developing and refining the robotic-assisted lingual mucosal graft ureteroplasty for complex strictures—his most cited work (73 citations). He has also advanced the field of ileal ureter replacement, reporting the first experiences with bilateral robotic procedures. With over 260 total citations across his top ten papers, Dr. Han’s work is not only technically innovative but also highly influential, offering new, less invasive solutions for some of urology’s most challenging reconstructive problems.
