Evandro Conforti is a Brazilian physicist and engineer whose research bridges experimental optics, instrumentation, and telecommunications. He is best known for pioneering work in fiber-optic sensors and remote monitoring systems, particularly through his development of a LabVIEW-based platform for SMS instrumentation supervision and control. This early contribution, published in 2011 and cited 7 times, demonstrated how mobile networks could be harnessed for real-time data acquisition and remote equipment management—a concept that anticipated the broader Internet of Things (IoT) revolution. Conforti’s broader impact lies in advancing photonic devices for optical communication networks, including erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and nonlinear optical switches. His research has been instrumental in improving signal integrity and bandwidth efficiency in long-haul fiber systems.
