Erik Sandewall is a pioneering figure in artificial intelligence, best known for his foundational work on reasoning about actions and change—a core challenge for autonomous systems. His landmark book *Features and Fluents* (1995, 53 citations) introduced abstract techniques that enable robots to anticipate their future, plan actions, and reason about the physical world, establishing a classical framework in AI.
