About
Efthimios Tsiogas is a robotics researcher specializing in autonomous navigation, perception, and field robotics. His work focuses on enabling mobile robots to operate intelligently in complex, unstructured environments—from busy factory floors to subsurface mapping sites. Tsiogas made a significant contribution to industrial automation with his highly cited 2021 paper on pallet detection and docking for autonomous pallet truck AGVs, which tackles the challenge of vision-based navigation in human-populated spaces without fixed infrastructure. This work, with 25 citations, addresses a critical gap in flexible manufacturing logistics. He has also advanced ground-penetrating radar (GPR) integration with robotic platforms, developing methods for automated subsurface scanning using robot-trailer systems and A-scan-based GPR antenna localization. His research on surface exploration with articulated robotic setups addresses the complex planning and control challenges inherent in non-standard kinematic configurations. Through these contributions, Tsiogas bridges the gap between perception, planning, and practical deployment, making autonomous systems more adaptable for real-world industrial and construction applications.
