Edward L. Winstead is a leading atmospheric scientist specializing in aerosol remote sensing and its interactions with weather and climate. His research focuses on validating and improving satellite and ground-based aerosol retrievals, particularly through the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET). Winstead’s major contributions include pioneering intercomparisons between AERONET surface radiometers and in situ aircraft profiles from NASA’s LARGE and DISCOVER-AQ experiments.
