E. Mutschler is a pioneering roboticist whose career has been defined by deploying advanced robotic systems into some of the most hazardous and inaccessible environments on Earth. His primary research areas include field robotics, pipe inspection, and hazardous material remediation. Mutschler’s most significant contribution is the development of the Explorer™ family of pipe robots, which enabled the first visual and nondestructive evaluation of live natural gas mains—a breakthrough cited over 90 times for its potential to save millions in excavation costs.
