Donald M. Arnold is a leading astrophysicist specializing in high-speed optical polarimetry and the development of next-generation robotic telescopes. His primary research focuses on gamma-ray bursts (GRBs)—the most violent explosions in the universe—where he uses polarization measurements to probe the magnetic fields and relativistic jets of these cataclysmic events. Arnold’s most notable contribution is the design and construction of the RINGO series of polarimeters, including RINGO3 (2012, 52 citations), which enabled the first multi-colour, fast-response polarization observations of GRB afterglows.
