About
Dominika Szczepanik is an atmospheric physicist whose research focuses on the vertical profiling of aerosols and their interactions with the planetary boundary layer. Her work is central to understanding how surface and columnar aerosol properties interrelate over continental urban sites, particularly through the integration of advanced lidar and sun-photometer techniques. Her most-cited paper, "Interrelations between surface, boundary layer, and columnar aerosol properties derived in summer and early autumn over a continental urban site in Warsaw, Poland" (2019, 36 citations), provides critical insights into aerosol dynamics using PollyXT Raman polarization lidar observations within the EARLINET and ACTRIS frameworks. This study remains a key reference for urban aerosol characterization. More recently, her contributions to the EARLINET/ACTRIS COVID-19 campaign (2023) have advanced combined sun-photometer–lidar inversion methodologies, offering lessons for monitoring atmospheric changes during unprecedented anthropogenic emission reductions.
