David A. Wilmshurst is a pioneering figure in industrial machine vision, best known for his groundbreaking work at General Motors Canada in the early 1980s. His primary research area centers on the practical application of computer vision for automated manufacturing and quality control. Wilmshurst’s major contribution was leading the first production implementation of the General Motors Consight vision system at the St. Catherines, Ontario, foundry.
