About
Cunhui Li is a leading figure in lunar science, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of the Moon’s surface environment. His primary research focuses on the in situ characterization of lunar dust and the analysis of regolith properties, directly addressing one of the most critical challenges for future lunar exploration. Li’s most significant contribution is the first-ever in situ measurement of lunar dust at the Chang’E-3 landing site in the northern Mare Imbrium, a landmark study published in 2019 that has garnered 29 citations. This work provided unprecedented, direct data on dust particle size, distribution, and behavior, confirming the hazardous nature of lunar dust and offering essential constraints for designing future landers, rovers, and astronaut habitats.
