About
Chia-han Yang is a robotics researcher whose work centers on bio-inspired locomotion and autonomous exploration in structured environments. A key contribution is the development of a path planning approach for an inchworm-inspired climbing robot, which uses task-objective pose selection to generate optimized, multi-step trajectories. This method enables the robot to traverse complex spaces and precisely land a footpad on a target surface, drawing directly from the looping kinematics of a caterpillar. Yang also advanced the efficiency of robotic exploration with a 2015 study on key feature-based mapping.
